Abstract
This work presents a novel strategy for solar energy storage using plasmon-activated water (PAW) as an energy-storage medium. The PAW solution, created via hot electron transfer (HET) on Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) illuminated by sunlight, exhibits a significantly higher chemical potential than deionized (DI) water. This higher chemical potential allows for faster evaporation and enhanced chemical reactions, such as hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The PAW solution maintains its enhanced properties for approximately two days, making it a practical energy storage system with an energy conversion efficiency of around 6.7%.
