Narrative coherence in neural language models

Neural language models are probed for a human-like 'personal identity' by analyzing autobiographical narratives: researchers elicited 2,010 stories from GPT-3.5 and 2,010 from GPT-4, rated coherence with the NaCCS, and fine-tuned an automatic evaluator from psychologist annotations.
