Abstract
This study investigated the association between maternal depression and children's behavioral self-regulation, examining the mediating roles of maternal supportive parenting and children's family screen time. Using a sample of 657 Chinese children and their mothers, structural equation models revealed that supportive parenting and screen time partially mediated the effect of maternal depression on children's self-regulation. Supportive parenting played a key mediating role, while screen time's impact was less significant. The findings highlight the importance of parenting practices in early childhood development within the Chinese family context.
