This study examined gender disparities in research grant success in social sciences at the University of Hong Kong, a leading Asian institution. Analysis revealed that women had higher submission rates and success rates, particularly in the Early Career Scheme, than men. Decomposition analysis showed that these factors significantly contributed to the increase in the number and amount of grant funding received by the University. The findings suggest a lack of gender bias in research grant application results within the social sciences at this institution, highlighting potentially influential contextual factors in Hong Kong.
