Abstract
This interview study investigated barriers and facilitators to implementing psychological interventions for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) in the UK National Health Service. Twenty stakeholders were interviewed, and thematic analysis revealed four key themes: (1) the impact of COPD and emotional distress on service engagement; (2) resource limitations affecting service provision; (3) the importance of integrated care for patient well-being; and (4) the role of healthcare communication in enabling or hindering patient engagement. The study highlights the need for holistic care, the potential of respiratory professionals to deliver psychological interventions, and the importance of addressing resource and communication barriers to successful implementation.
