Abstract
This article examines how the online discourse of art organisations forges relationships between the artworld and the fields of politics and economy. Combining Pierre Bourdieu’s field analysis with Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis, the article analyses an elite art magazine (e-flux) and an elite art museum (IMMA), focusing on the discourse, genres, and utterances on their about pages. Results suggest these about pages forge links to politics and economy by mobilising discourses from those fields and incorporating their discourse practices. The resultant ideological tension from this interdiscursivity is managed in different ways, contributing to understanding how discourse networks fields of practice.
