Abstract
This study investigates global support for climate action using a representative survey across 125 countries (nearly 130,000 individuals). Findings reveal widespread support: 69% are willing to contribute 1% of income, 86% endorse pro-climate norms, and 89% demand intensified political action. Countries highly vulnerable to climate change show especially high willingness to contribute. However, a significant perception gap exists—a "pluralistic ignorance" where individuals underestimate fellow citizens' willingness to act. This gap, coupled with conditionally cooperative behavior, hinders further climate action. Raising awareness of broad global support is crucial for unified climate response.
