Abstract
This study investigates global online social responses to the 2013 Super Typhoon Haiyan and the socioeconomic factors influencing them. Using big social media data and the Geodetector and geographically weighted regression (GWR) models, the study reveals that global online responses correlate with disaster development, with the highest response in affected countries, followed by Western and neighboring countries. Economic factors most strongly influence public interest, indicating the potential of online users as volunteers and donors.
