This study investigates how school quality moderates genetic and environmental influences on educational performance. Using twin models and Dutch administrative data on 29,434 twin pairs, the researchers examined whether high-quality schools amplify or compensate for genetic and shared environmental influences on educational performance. Results show that school quality does not moderate these influences once socioeconomic status (SES) is considered. However, a gene-environment interplay exists for school SES: genetic variance decreases with increasing school SES, reflecting both parental and school-based processes.
