This study investigates the impact of climate change on marine phytoplankton diversity using a complex ecosystem model with 35 phytoplankton types. The model projects faster phytoplankton community turnover and instability throughout the 21st century, leading to a loss of ecological resilience and potential knock-on effects on marine ecosystem productivity and function.
