Abstract
This study investigates the impact of climate change on flood duration in the eastern United States. Using data from 378 streamgages, statistical models were developed to analyze the year-to-year changes in flood duration above minor and moderate National Weather Service (NWS) flood severity levels. Climate-related variables, such as precipitation and temperature, were used as predictors. The results project that the eastern US will experience longer flood durations, particularly in winter and under higher emission scenarios.
