Abstract

This study synthesizes data from dynamic games experiments conducted across Europe, Africa, and Asia to examine the effectiveness of financial incentives in aligning agricultural productivity and pro-conservation behavior. While payments can encourage pro-conservation actions, they often fail to jointly improve both productive and environmental outcomes. The study also finds that production and the joint production-environment product are better preserved in groups with higher education levels, greater gender diversity, and better female representation.
