Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted academic life. This paper uses the pandemic experience to reflect on challenges faced by epidemiology and identify areas needing further discussion. It emphasizes the need to strengthen epidemiology's scientific foundations, recognize the limitations of its approaches, and foster stronger links with other disciplines. A revised teaching model is proposed, incorporating disaster preparedness and improved scientific communication. The paper highlights the importance of epidemiology's commitment to applying knowledge to improve public health and reduce health inequalities.
