The GEN-COVID Multicenter Study has collected biospecimens (whole blood, plasma, serum, leukocytes, DNA) from over 1000 SARS-CoV-2 positive individuals, linking them to detailed clinical data. Analysis revealed five clinical categories: (1) severe multisystemic failure; (2) cytokine storm; (3) moderate heart failure; (4) moderate multisystemic involvement; and (5) mild illness. The data, including whole-exome sequencing and SNP genotyping, are available through the Network for Italian Genomes. The study aims to identify multi-organ involvement, genetic parameters for infection susceptibility, and genetic mapping of COVID-19 severity.
