Abstract
This study investigated the anti-influenza capacity of several Iranian Scutellaria species and identified active compounds from the most potent species. Methanol fraction of S. pinnatifida subsp. viridis showed the highest flavonoid content and best activity against influenza A virus, reducing the virus titer by 5 logs without cytotoxicity. Kaempferol-3-O-glucoside, quercetin-3-O-glucoside, apigenin-4′-methoxy-7-O-glucoside, luteolin, and luteolin-7-O-glucoside were identified. S. pinnatifida subsp. viridis is a source of flavonoids with anti-influenza activity, and S. tomentosa is a candidate for further studies.
