Abstract
This paper reports a novel electrochemical method for the direct insertion of ammonia into cyclic alkenes to synthesize diverse aromatic N-heterocycles. The method utilizes electrochemical hydrogen evolution, avoiding the need for external oxidants and achieving up to 99.2% theoretical atom economy. This approach offers advantages including tolerance of oxidation-labile functional groups and a broad substrate scope.
