This study investigated the effects of sucrose and non-nutritive sweeteners (NNS) on hemodynamic responses to acute stress in 12 healthy women. Acute stress was induced using a mental stress test and a cold pressure test. Systemic vascular resistance (SVR), mean arterial pressure, cardiac output, and heart rate were measured. Results showed that while both stress tests increased mean arterial pressure and heart rate, SVR only increased with the cold pressure test. No significant differences in hemodynamic responses were observed between water, sucrose, and NNS conditions, suggesting that these sweeteners do not alter hemodynamic responses to acute stress.
