Abstract
This study introduces a cost-effective process for co-producing methanol and sulfuric acid through direct methane oxidation. Methane is oxidized to methyl bisulfate, then esterified to methyl trifluoroacetate, and finally hydrolyzed to methanol. This approach avoids energy-intensive separation of methyl bisulfate from sulfuric acid, reducing methanol production costs significantly and making it adaptable to smaller gas fields.
