Abstract
This study investigates how sub-second changes in brain connectivity relate to episodic memory formation using intracranial EEG data from 20 participants performing a paired associates verbal memory task. The researchers identified functional connections exhibiting strong correlations with consistent time delays. Successful memory formation involved dynamic sub-second connectivity changes specific to each word pair, patterns that were reinstated during successful retrieval. This directly links specific dynamic changes in brain connectivity to successful memory formation.
