This study analyzes the current and future economic damages in Europe due to reduced labor productivity caused by extreme heat. Analyzing heatwaves in 2003, 2010, 2015, and 2018, researchers estimated damages at 0.3–0.5% of European GDP. However, impacts varied regionally, exceeding 1% in vulnerable areas. Projections suggest a nearly fivefold increase in damages by 2060 without mitigation or adaptation.
