Curiosity across the adult lifespan: Age-related differences in state and trait curiosity

New lifespan research finds a surprising split: trait curiosity declines with age, but state curiosity—momentary interest in information measured with a trivia rating task—increases. In large samples (pilot N=193; preregistered N=1,218), the study reveals a complex relationship between curiosity and age with implications for everyday cognitive engagement.
