Abstract
Comparative literature and the digital humanities are compound, interdisciplinary disciplines that share similarities in their histories, structures, ideals, and prospects. By examining the development of comparative literature as it became a discipline, the paper offers a comparative reflection on existing and potential problems, along with feasible countermeasures for the theoretical construction of comparative literature and digital humanities across four areas: scope, institution, methodology, and mission. Lessons from comparative literature can guide the digital humanities toward rapid and solid development.
