Abstract
This study investigates the development of memory selection by examining the ability to filter attended yet outdated information in children and adults. Across five experiments, children consistently outperformed adults in recalling attended but irrelevant information, suggesting an underdeveloped memory selection process in children leading to inefficient filtering of unnecessary information.
