Abstract
ChatGPT, an AI-based conversational large language model (LLM), holds significant potential for revolutionizing healthcare education, research, and practice. This systematic review examines the promising applications and valid concerns associated with ChatGPT in these areas. A comprehensive search of PubMed/MEDLINE and Google Scholar was conducted to identify English records focusing on ChatGPT's role in healthcare education, research, or practice. The review found that 51/60 (85.0%) records highlighted ChatGPT's benefits, including improved scientific writing, efficiency in research tasks, streamlining workflows, and personalized learning experiences in healthcare. However, 58/60 (96.7%) records raised concerns, encompassing ethical issues, copyright concerns, transparency, legal aspects, potential bias, plagiarism, inaccuracies, limited knowledge, and infodemic risks. The review concludes that while ChatGPT offers transformative opportunities, its integration into healthcare should be approached with caution, considering its limitations. It emphasizes the urgent need for a code of ethics to guide the responsible use of ChatGPT and other LLMs within healthcare and academia.
