This paper quantitatively analyzes the internationalization of archaeology in Mainland China using data from CNKI and Web of Science. It examines the number of articles published in world core journals (WCJs) by Chinese scholars, collaboration networks, research topics, and journal characteristics. While a significant increase in WCJ publications is noted, particularly in the last two decades, the overall proportion remains small compared to publications in Chinese core journals. The study concludes that internationalization is not yet a dominant trend and that the recent inward-looking policy requires further observation to determine future trends.
