This research conducts a bibliometric analysis of research on COVID-19 and tourism to identify research trends, gaps, key authors, countries with the most publications, frequently studied areas, leading journals, and highly cited articles. Using the Web of Science (WOS) database and VOSviewer software, the analysis covered 921 publications after filtering 1792 initial results. The study reveals a new research trend focusing on the crisis as an opportunity for more sustainable tourism. Other prominent areas include tourist perception of risk, transmission analysis, and policy evaluations. China leads in publications and case studies.
