Abstract
This study examines the vicarious grief experiences of healthcare workers, faith-based workers, and mental health workers who supported individuals bereaved due to COVID-19 deaths. A mixed-methods approach revealed that healthcare workers reported the highest levels of vicarious grief. Qualitative findings identified five themes: acknowledging contexts of grief, navigating relations with the bereaved, sharing others' grief, internalizing encounters, and negotiating challenges. The study emphasizes the need for organizational-level support interventions for helping professionals.
