Abstract
This paper presents an automated digital end-to-end process for creating custom ocular prostheses using image data from an anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) device. The process predicts prosthesis shape using a statistical shape model based on incomplete surface information from the eye socket and generates appearance matching the healthy fellow eye. A multi-material full-color 3D printer manufactures the prosthesis, which is then post-processed. Results from 10 patients show the approach requires five times less ocularist labor than manual methods and produces reproducible results.
