Artificial Intelligence for Mental Health and Mental Illnesses: An Overview

Artificial intelligence promises to transform mental healthcare by enabling earlier detection, more objective definitions of disorders, and personalized treatments. This review summarizes current AI applications and 28 recent studies using EHRs, mood scales, brain imaging, smartphone/video monitoring, and social media to predict and classify depression, psychosis, and suicide risk, while highlighting limitations and ethical concerns.
