Artificial Intelligence and Employment: New Cross-Country Evidence

Recent advances in AI raise concerns about labor-market impacts. This study adapts an AI occupational impact measure and extends it to 23 OECD countries, finding no clear overall link between AI exposure and employment growth, though AI exposure is associated with higher employment growth in computer-intensive occupations and may reduce hours where computer use is low—pointing to productivity gains that favor digitally skilled workers.
