Abstract
Complex human movement patterns influence communicable disease spread, particularly across borders. The Population Connectivity Across Borders (PopCAB) toolkit is a rapidly deployable method using focus group discussions and participatory mapping to characterize movement patterns. Its application in Togo and Benin for Lassa fever outbreaks showed it effectively informed cross-border preparedness and response strategies, leading to improved information sharing, targeted training, and integration of traditional healers.
