This study reports the synthesis and structural characterization of (Cp′₃Cm)₂(µ-4,4′-bpy), a rare example of a curium–carbon bond. The complex displays unexpected low-energy emission that's quenched upon 4,4′-bipyridine coordination. Electronic structure calculations suggest 4,4′-bipyridine is the primary quenching agent. Comparisons with samarium and gadolinium analogs reveal atypical bonding and electronic features, offering insights into f-block metal-carbon bonding.
