This study investigated how overweight and wasting prevalence varies with age among children under 5 years in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Data from 90 national surveys (2010-2019) were analyzed. Overweight prevalence declined with age, being lower in low-income countries. Wasting was more frequent among infants, with lower-middle-income countries showing the highest prevalence. Mean weight-for-height Z-score (WHZ) was stable, but standard deviations were higher in infants, suggesting measurement error or rapid growth channel crossing might explain the age patterns.
