Abstract
This paper introduces an electro-encapsulated self-forming dynamic membrane bioreactor (e-ESFDMBR) for advanced wastewater treatment. The e-ESFDMBR incorporates an electrocoagulation process and a biomembrane sandwiched between polyester fabrics. Compared to a standard ESFDMBR (without electric field), the e-ESFDMBR showed superior performance in removing nitrogen, phosphorus, and recalcitrant molecules, along with significantly lower fouling. Microbiological analysis revealed insights into the biological processes involved.
