Abstract
This study investigates users' continuance intention toward Smart Mobile Learning (SML) using the uses and gratifications (U&G) framework. It identifies five categories of user gratification (technology, hedonic, social, utilitarian, and content) derived from various motivational and learning theories. Using data from 495 Liulishuo app users, partial least-squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) reveals that technology gratification, specifically "perceived intelligence," is the most significant predictor of continuance intention. The study also highlights the importance of content gratification ("education"), social gratification ("status"), utilitarian gratification ("achievement"), and hedonic gratification ("perceived enjoyment"), while "concentration" is found to be insignificant.
