This study analyzes Henry Fielding's *Tom Jones* from a socio-pragmatic perspective, examining Fielding's reflection of 18th-century thought, his philosophy of human nature, and his narrative techniques, particularly the use of irony. The study employs qualitative content analysis within a critical discourse analysis framework to illuminate Fielding's stylistic choices and their relationship to the novel's intellectual context.
