This nationwide analysis of Norwegian primary-care records (2006-2019) encompassing 354,516,291 encounters from 4,875,722 patients revealed that 11.7% involved mental health conditions. This volume surpassed encounters for infections, cardiovascular, and respiratory conditions, and exceeded those for other body systems except musculoskeletal conditions. The findings highlight the significant role of primary-care physicians in managing mental health across all age groups and suggest a greater role in prevention than previously appreciated.
