Additional Encouragements:

  • Projects involving partnerships are encouraged.
  • Projects that include training and the growth of community capacity are encouraged. For example:
    • Partnering with First Nations
    • Collaborating with Renewable Resources Councils
    • Hiring and training local community members

📅 Application Date and Process

Required Documents:

Applicants must provide a cover page, which includes:

  • Title of the project
  • A brief one-paragraph summary of the project stating:
    • Purpose
    • Objective(s)
    • Location
    • Amount of funds requested
  • Proposed start and finish dates
  • Applicant’s name, address, contact person name, and contact information (phone, fax, email, mail, web, etc.)

Proposal Requirements:

The proposal must demonstrate feasibility and technical soundness. Wherever possible, include how traditional knowledge supports your rationale. The following criteria must be addressed:

  1. State which of the Trust’s criteria categories the project falls under (e.g., protection, enhancement, or restoration of fish and wildlife or their habitat in Yukon).
  2. Identify which objectives of Chapter 16 of the UFA the project contributes towards.
  3. Detail the methodology or approach to achieve the project’s objectives, supported by sound biological/ecological rationales. Background support from fish or wildlife biologists and/or local/traditional knowledge experts is encouraged.
  4. Outline anticipated outcomes and how they will be measured or evaluated.
  5. Demonstrate community, First Nation, Renewable Resource Council, and public support for the project. Documentation of support may be required.
  6. Identify permits and permissions required for the project to proceed (e.g., landowner permissions, regulatory agency approvals). Documentation may be required before funding is released.
  7. Highlight involvement from other funding partners.
  8. Confirm that project personnel are qualified to carry out the proposed work. Resumes may be required.
  9. Address ongoing operations and maintenance costs after project completion.
  10. Ensure the work plan and budget are realistic.

Note: The complete and approved proposal, including the cover sheet, budget, and project work schedule, forms an integral part of the “Contract” that each successful applicant must sign before receiving funding.
