💰 Benefits of the Scholarship

The scholarship includes the following benefits for both domestic and international applicants:

• Stipend: $36,225.00 per annum (2025 rate, tax-free) to assist with living costs.
• International Candidates: Approved candidates commencing offshore will receive their stipend scholarship upon arrival at the University of Canberra, Bruce campus. The stipend will be back-paid.
• Tuition Fee Sponsorship: International candidates may also be awarded a tuition fee sponsorship to cover tuition fees.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the University of Canberra Research Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a domestic student (Australian citizen, permanent resident, or New Zealand citizen) or an international student.
• Not have previously held an Australian-Government-funded research scholarship for more than 6 months.

Priority Applicants:

1. Applicants approved for admission to a PhD with:
   • An Australian First-Class Honours result or equivalent qualification.
   • Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) equivalent to a Master’s by coursework with a research project of at least 25% and a result of at least 80%.
2. Current PhD candidates who:
   • Have successfully achieved Confirmation of Candidature.
   • Have completed less than two years of candidature (EFT) at the commencement of the semester.
3. Applicants approved for the National Industry PhD Program – Industry Linked stream.
4. Indigenous Australian applicants approved for admission to a PhD.

📝 Application Process

For Potential PhD Candidates:

1. Apply through the HDR Application Portal.
2. First, apply for HDR Admission.
3. After admission, access and submit a separate application form for the Research Scholarship.

For Current PhD Candidates:

• Complete a Research Scholarship application via the HDR Application Portal.

Note: Preference will be given to PhD candidates who have successfully achieved Confirmation of Candidature and have completed no more than two years of candidature EFT.
