✅ Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes, the following requirements must be met:

• Institutions, organizations, and individuals promoting literacy through effective and innovative programmes.
• Programmes must be still in operation and have a proven record of innovative work in the field of literacy for at least 2 years.
• Programmes that have not been awarded the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes in the past five years.

2. Clarity and Simplicity: Avoid jargon and generalizations. Ensure your application is understandable to someone unfamiliar with your organization.
3. Focus on Implementation: The prizes reward effective literacy programmes and practices, not the importance of literacy itself.
4. Important Notes:
   • The prizes are not intended to fund current programmes or proposed projects.
   • They are not intended for programmes in early stages of ideation or development.
   • Programmes must have a proven record of implementation (minimum two years of operations).
   • Ensure any files or websites submitted are clearly named and titled.
