TWAS-CUI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme 2026

The World Academy of Science (TWAS) is now accepting applications for its CUI Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme 2026. This opportunity is designed for young scientists from developing countries (excluding Pakistan) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in natural or social sciences.

📖 About the Programme

The TWAS-CUI Fellowship Programme offers fellowships for postdoctoral research with the following details:

• Duration: Maximum of six months (with the possibility of a no-cost extension for an additional six months).
• Sponsor Organisation: The World Academy of Science (TWAS).

🎁 Benefits of the Fellowship

• Monthly Stipend: Provided by CUI to cover living costs such as food, accommodation, and health insurance.
  • Note: The stipend is not convertible into foreign currency.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be nationals of a developing country (excluding Pakistan).
• Must not be on-site in Pakistan.
• Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Pakistan or any developed country.
• Hold a PhD degree in a field of natural sciences.
  • If applying in a field of eligible social sciences, hold a PhD degree in a field of social sciences.
• Apply for the fellowship within five years of obtaining a PhD degree.
• Be regularly employed in a developing country (excluding Pakistan) and hold a research assignment there.
• Provide an official Acceptance Letter from CUI.
  • Applicants may contact a prospective supervisor for academic guidance. After identifying a suitable host supervisor, they must formally apply for an acceptance letter addressed to:

• Provide evidence of proficiency in English, if the medium of education was not English.
• Provide evidence of intent to return to their home country upon completion of the fellowship.
• Commit to not taking up other assignments during the fellowship period.
• Be financially responsible for any accompanying family members and any delays incurred in completing the fellowship.

📅 Application Date and Process

• Application Deadline: 15 June 2026.
• Applicants must submit an Acceptance Letter from CUI when applying or by the deadline at the latest. Applications without preliminary acceptance will not be considered.
• Reference letters must:
  • Be on letter-headed paper.
  • Be signed.
  • Be submitted via the online portal only.
    Note: Only signed reference letters will be accepted.
