  • Public awareness: Highlighting systemic and institutional barriers to inform public policies.
  • Cultural and intercultural community-building: Creating cross-cultural opportunities through discussions, dialogue, and collaborations.

Projects must achieve one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Increase public awareness of race relations, anti-racism, or anti-hate issues nationally, regionally, or locally.
  • Enhance public awareness of Canada’s cultural diversity.
  • Highlight factors such as race, culture, ethnicity, or religion that hinder full participation in society and the economy.
  • Build knowledge and capacity within communities to address racism and discrimination.

Funding for proposed projects ranges from $25,000 to $125,000.

Eligible Expenses:

  • Personnel and staffing costs.
  • Project costs (e.g., workshops, meetings, speaker honoraria, venue expenses, equipment, marketing, catering, transportation).
  • Purchased services (e.g., consultants, contractors, subject matter experts).
  • Evaluation costs (e.g., surveys, focus groups, evaluation reporting).
  • Overhead and administrative costs directly associated with project delivery (up to 15% of the total budget).

Eligible Organizations:

  1. Canadian registered charities and non-profit organizations.
  2. First Nations, Inuit, and MΓ©tis organizations.
  3. Canadian non-Federal public institutions (e.g., municipalities, schools, colleges, universities).
  4. Labour organizations.

Non-Eligible Organizations:

  • For-profit organizations.
  • Federal institutions.
  • Individuals.
  • Organizations focused solely on political activity.
  • Grassroots organizations.

Two-Step Application Process:

  1. Expression of Interest (EOI):

    • Create a profile or use an existing one on the application portal.
    • Complete and submit the EOI application form.
    • Attach the most recent annual financial statements (2 years) or a financial letter of explanation for newly incorporated organizations (less than 2 years old).
  2. Full Application:

    • Submit via the SurveyMonkey Apply grant platform between June 25, 2025 and August 29, 2025.
    • Applications will only be accepted via the platform.

Benefits
  • Available funding for any proposed project can range from a minimum of $25,000 to a maximum of $125,000
  • Eligible Expenses for Project Funding can Include:
    • Personnel and staffing costs
    • Project costs such as workshop and meeting costs, speaker honoraria, venue-related expenses, equipment, marketing and communications, catering, transportation, etc.
    • Purchased services such as services of consultants/contractors/subject matter experts specifically relating to the delivery of the project
    • Evaluation costs such as project evaluation, survey administration, focus groups, and evaluation reporting
    • Overhead and administrative costs directly associated with the project delivery can be requested to a maximum of 15% of the total budget. Overhead and administrative costs include supervision, bookkeeping/accounting, audit expenses, telephone/internet, etc.
