Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • No restrictions on country of origin, discipline, or academic affiliation.
  • Fellows must reside at STIAS for the duration of the fellowship, with no academic obligations other than pursuing their proposed research project.
  • Includes opportunities for:
    • Artists-in-residence and short-term fellows from public commentary and opinion-making spheres.
    • Young scholars who have completed at least one postdoctoral fellowship (preferably more than one).
  • Postdoctoral applications are not considered unless within the framework of an agreement with the Volkswagen Foundation.

  1. A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  2. A list of publications (can be included in the CV).
  3. One or two recent articles typical of the applicant’s research work or related to the proposed project.

  5. A brief summary (maximum 200 words) of the proposed project, accessible to readers outside the applicant’s specific discipline.
  6. A clear indication of the length of fellowship being applied for, along with preferred and alternative dates of residence at STIAS.
  7. A brief explanation of how the applicant became aware of the STIAS program and their motivation for choosing STIAS.
