🌟 About SPSSI Action Teaching Grants

The Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) has established an annual grant program to provide SPSSI members with funds to develop, enhance, or measure the impact of innovative action teaching activities. These activities may include classroom assignments, student projects, field experiences, or web-based resources.

💰 Benefits of SPSSI Action Teaching Grants

Applicants can request funding between $100 and $1,500.
SPSSI expects to award a maximum of three action teaching grants per year.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

The grant program is open to regular dues-paying members of SPSSI, including graduate students.
Non-members can submit a membership application along with the grant application.

📋 Evaluation Criteria

Proposed projects will be judged based on:

Originality
Feasibility
Potential teaching effectiveness
Potential impact on one or more social issues

Applicants are encouraged to include details on:

How they plan to assess the educational effectiveness and social impact of their proposed activity or resource.

📝 Application Date and Process

Required Documents:

SPSSI Action Teaching Grant Application Form
CV or résumé
Abstract (75-150 words summarizing the grant proposal)
Project Description, including:
- (a) What students will learn from the action teaching resource or activity developed with grant funding.
- (b) How the resource or activity will contribute to society or others beyond the class.
- (c) How you will assess student learning and broader impact.
- (d) Why grant funding is needed to develop the resource or activity.
- (e) A budget describing each item and rationale.
