SECAI scholarships are designed to support outstanding students pursuing AI or related fields at TU Dresden or Leipzig University. AI is considered an interdisciplinary field requiring expertise in areas such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, social science, law, natural sciences, and application domains like medicine.

The scholarships aim to:

🎁 Benefits

  • Monthly Grant:
    • A monthly allowance of EUR 934 (as per scholarship regulations).
    • Any extra income exceeding EUR 603 must be declared, and the scholarship may be reduced accordingly.
    • Foreign students may qualify for a monthly family allowance.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Students can apply if they meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Enrollment:

    • Currently enrolled or planning to enroll at TU Dresden or Leipzig University at the Master's level.
    • It is possible to apply for the scholarship while applying for a Master's program (requires two independent applications).
  2. Relevant Study Programs:

    • Studies closely related to SECAI research areas, including but not limited to:

      • TU Dresden:
        • M.Sc. Computer Science
        • M.Sc. Computational Modeling and Simulation (Tracks: Applied Artificial Intelligence and Computational Life Science)
        • M.Sc. Nanoelectronic Systems
      • Leipzig University:
        • M.Sc. Data Science
        • M.Sc. Bioinformatics (Bioinformatik)
        • M.Sc. Medical Informatics (Medizininformatik)
    • Students from other programs may apply if they specialize in AI-related topics through elective courses or project/thesis topics. Relevant programs include:

      • M.Sc. or Diplom programs in Computer Science
      • LL.M. (Master of Laws) studies focusing on legal aspects of AI
      • M.A. studies at TU Dresden and Leipzig University focusing on human and societal dimensions of AI
      • M.Sc. studies in psychology focusing on socio-technical systems and human-machine interaction
  3. Academic Performance:

    • Demonstrate an above-average academic track record (typically a cumulative grade point average of 1.7 or better in the German grading system).
    • Exceptions may be made for adverse personal circumstances.
  4. Diplom Students:

    • Students in German Diplom study programs are considered Master level after completing the first two years of their study (Grundstudium).
