✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Experience: At least three years of experience as a journalist or working directly in journalism or program-making.
  • Previous fellows have included audio journalists, documentary journalists, photojournalists, producers, reporters, and related roles.
  • Blogging, academic writing, and public relations do not count toward journalism experience.
• Open to Media Professionals: Applications are encouraged from professionals across all disciplines and outlets. Experience in mental health is not required.
• Residency: Applicants must be citizens or legal residents of the Republic of Ireland and eligible to travel to the U.S.
• Availability: Applicants must be available to attend all-day meetings at The Carter Center, Atlanta, Georgia, in September at the beginning and end of their fellowship year.
• Application Submission: A full fellowship application must be submitted by the closing date of June 2, 2026.
