Residency Program for Artists from Namibia
🌍 About the Residency Program
The Residency Program in Baden-Württemberg is designed for artists from Namibia working in the fields of:
- Visual and performing arts
- Music/sound
- Design
- Literature
- Art education
This program is a collaboration between Akademie Schloss Solitude, the National Art Gallery of Namibia, and the Goethe-Institut Namibia. It aims to foster long-term cultural exchange between Namibia and Baden-Württemberg by connecting fellows with local cultural scenes and strengthening artistic knowledge exchange.

The program will host two six-month fellowships for Namibian artists in Baden-Württemberg. In exchange, two artists from Baden-Württemberg will have the opportunity to go to Namibia for six months in 2026.
The residency includes events such as:
- Readings
- Exhibitions
- Discussions
- Workshops
Applicants are free to choose the thematic focus of their projects.

Selected fellows will receive:
- A free, furnished living/working studio (including electricity, water, and heating)
- A monthly fellowship grant of €1,300
- Travel expenses for arrival and departure (one-time basis)
- Project funding and a one-off materials subsidy of €2,000
- Visa costs
- Health insurance
✅ Eligibility Criteria
To apply for this residency program, you must meet the following requirements:
- Open to individuals of all ages.
- Good English skills are necessary.
- Individuals currently in vocational training or studying at university (except for those pursuing a PhD) cannot apply.

Fellowship Period and Deadline:
- The fellowship will run from March 1 to August 31, 2026.
- The final date for applications is July 8, 2025, at 24:00 PM (CET).
Application Materials:
Applicants must submit the following documents online in PDF format:
- Motivation letter explaining why you want to go to Baden-Württemberg (in English, max. 1 Din A4 page).
- Project description outlining your goals and how you plan to engage with artistic communities in Baden-Württemberg (in English, max. 1 Din A4 page).
- Short biography and an informative portfolio/documentation of previous artistic work (in English).
