The Asia Research Institute (ARI) invites applications from ambitious scholars to conduct cutting-edge academic humanities or social sciences research on Asia.
Positions will be awarded based on:
- The quality of the proposed research and publication plans.
- The applicantβs existing publication track record.
- The relationship of their research to the identified themes and priorities of ARI research clusters.
Preference will also be given to candidates with the potential to collaborate in developing competitive research grant applications.

β Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- PhD Completion:
- Candidates must have fulfilled all requirements for securing a PhD from a reputable university at the time of appointment at ARI.
- If still a PhD candidate at the point of application, you may apply provided you are confirmed for graduation by your commencement date at ARI. An official letter from the Registrarβs Office will be required to confirm the award of your PhD degree.
- Publication Track Record:
- Candidates must have an existing track record of publication and plausible plans for future high-quality publications to be completed during their time at ARI.

Applicants are required to submit the following documents in one combined PDF under the CV column in the system:
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum of 3 single-spaced pages).
- Synopsis of Proposed Research Activities (maximum of 2 single-spaced pages), including:
- How these relate to prior (especially doctoral) work and experience.
- How they contribute to the relevant ARI research cluster(s).
- Publication plans during the 2-year timeframe of the position (indicate up to 2 research clusters).
- At least one short sample of published work, preferably in English.
- Name and Contact Details of at least 2 Referees.
