Opportunity Overview

🏆 About Leverhulme Trust - Philip Leverhulme Prize

The Philip Leverhulme Prize is a prestigious research award offered by the Leverhulme Trust to support researchers at an early stage of their academic careers. The prize recognizes scholars whose work has already made an original and significant contribution to knowledge and who show exceptional promise for future research excellence.

💰 Benefits

  • Each prize is worth £100,000.

📋 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Philip Leverhulme Prize, nominees must meet the following requirements:

  • Employment Status: Nominees must hold either a permanent post or a long-term fellowship in a UK university with research degree awarding powers that would extend beyond the duration of the prize. Those without salary are not eligible to be nominated.
  • Doctoral Degree Timeline: Nominees should normally have been awarded their doctoral degree not more than ten years prior to the closing date of 14 May 2026. The award date is considered to be the date shown on the degree certificate.
    • Exceptions: Nominations are accepted for those who do not meet this requirement if they have had a distinct career break. Eligible career breaks include:
      • Caring responsibilities
      • Illness
  • Individual Awards: Prizes are awarded to individuals. The Trust Board will not consider making an award where two (or more) nominations are received for substantially the same body of work.
