The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Vigdís Prize for Women’s Empowerment 2026 is named after Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, the world’s first democratically elected female Head of State (Iceland, 1980). Established in 2023 by PACE in partnership with the Government of Iceland, this prize recognizes outstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and gender equality.

- Eligible Nominees:
- Individuals
- Civil society groups, including national or international non-governmental organizations, associations, and private companies
- Ineligible Nominees:
- Current members of the Parliamentary Assembly
- Deceased individuals
- Submission Requirements:
- Nominations must be submitted in English or French.
- Nominations must be supported by the signatures of at least five sponsors.
